Lewisboro and Katonah were the victims of some poor representation by their political representatives in Albany last month.
Republicans State Senator Greg Ball, 40th District, and Assemblyman Robert Castelli, 89th District, both voted against the same-sex marriage bill that was recently passed by New York.
...
In the end, both Republicans should have realized their party’s roots are not in promoting social conservatism but in limiting the size and scope of government. This bill does that .... It allows a person to decide who they want to marry, instead of having government prevent someone to wed a person of the same sex. Gay rights may have more support from those with a liberal background, but the notion of protecting a person’s privacy by supporting the rights of the individual over the rules of government is rooted in Republicanism.
The editorial from the Lewisboro Ledger hits the nail on the head.
